What’s a UDAI?

UDAI stands for Unique Domain Authenthication ID. This is a 8 characters password/code required to authenticate a request to transfer a domain name from one registrar to another.

Where do I find it?

You’ll find your UDAI in your domain name registration confirmation email.

What do I do with it?

Keep it secure! And only provide it when you want to change from domain name registrar.

Fair Go says we should know our UDAI. I don’t even know what a register is in computer terms. Should we have one. Thanks, yours faithfully, Fred Hughes

Yes. If someone (e.g. a web design company) registers a domain name for you they should register it in your name (you should be the legal owner) and you should receive an UDAI from them. You can check the records of your domain name easily via http://whois.domaintools.com/ the registrant contact name should be yours.
